Up a flight of stairs in Eastern Market, Midnight Temple pairs authentic Indian food with music, late nights, and the culture behind every dish.
Some of the best places in Detroit take a little finding. Midnight Temple is a second-floor Indian gastropub in Eastern Market, above Detroit City Distillery, and once you're up the stairs it feels like a different world.
The food
The menu is built on family recipes, made from scratch and spiced the way you like it. Start with street eats like samosas, pakora, and pani puri, then move on to biryani, tandoori, or a curry with basmati rice. Halal meat, produce, and spices are sourced every week right in Eastern Market.
The vibe
Midnight Temple is a gastropub, not a quiet dining room. On club nights it turns into a DJ lounge, and the events calendar is full of Bollywood nights, live music, and pop-ups.
Culture at the table
Indian holidays like Diwali, Holi, and Eid are part of the year here, and you'll find them on the Temple calendar alongside our own events. Ask about any dish and you'll probably hear the story behind it.
